We are seeking an Associate Content Editor, Marketing to champion quality content, with a focus on our blog. Our Associate Content Editor role will work closely with our Content Marketing Director and a team of freelance writers. The ideal candidate will have environmental and renewable energy knowledge (either through educational studies or work experience).
As the Marketing team’s Associate Content Editor, you are a master of the written word with excellent command of the English language. You care about every aspect of a piece of content from punctuation, grammar, sourcing, and fact-checking to brand voice, tone, and storytelling—and you want to learn how content plays a role in our overall marketing strategy. You enjoy researching topics and creating content outlines, and you’re just as happy to write content from scratch or edit an existing piece. In this role, you’ll produce high-quality content that helps increase traffic and boosts reader engagement, while positioning Perch as a thought leader in the energy space and helping generate leads for our products and services.

Responsibilities:
Write blog articles aimed at eco-conscious consumers
Help develop blog topic outlines and briefs to hand off to freelance writers
Review blog posts submitted from freelance writers and give feedback to ensure the content is accurate, engaging and matches Perch’s brand voice
Review, edit or write social media, email copy, ad copy, and landing pages as needed
Help assemble and format content in the CMS (Content Management System)
Help plan, implement, and manage the editorial calendar and the content publication schedule
Proofread and fact-check
Assist the Content Director in helping to carry out Perch’s overall content marketing and brand storytelling strategies
. Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a field of study such as Writing, Journalism, English/Literature, Communications or Digital Marketing
1-3 years of work experience in an editorial, copywriting or content marketing role
Internship or co-op experience is a plus for new graduates
Experience or education within the environment or energy sectors preferred
An outstanding writer, editor and communicator across consumer-facing content of varying lengths and purposes (I.e., blog articles, research think pieces, social media posts, email copy, etc.)
Ability to research and understand sometimes complex topics and explain them in helpful, succinct ways to the reader
Strong at finding reputable data sources and attribution sources to include within content
Basic knowledge of content SEO best practices preferred but not required
Keep attention to detail and outstanding organization skills
A passionate, enthusiastic learner
A self-starter that can thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
